Our Last Post Before The Election
Written by Neon

As Election 2008 comes to a close, the anxiety level is high and the hope that there will be a fair and honest election concerns all of us who have questioned previous elections. Here are some problems already occurring with early election as well as things to do if you have a problem at the polls.

In Virginia flyers looking official were passed out to say that Democrats and Republicans vote on different days. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! Everyone votes on Nov. 4th 2008 unless doing early voting.

Some have been told, in these difficult times, that if their houses are foreclosed on they can not vote. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! CHECK WITH YOUR STATE. BELOW ARE SOME STATES WHERE YOU CAN VOTE IF YOU ARE FORECLOSED ON.

MAKE SURE YOUR VOTE COUNTS!

Make sure you are at the right polling place. Call your city registrar if you have a question or call 1-866-our-vote or go to http://govote.org/ to find registrar or to https://www.overseasvotefoundation.org/overseas/eod.htm to find your registrar.

Report a problem to the Obama campaign http://my.barackobama.com/page/s/vpcreport

Call radio and tv stations to report problems to get the word out.

Make sure you have a proper id like a driver’s license, pictured student id, official gov’t photo like a passport or non-drivers photo id. An electric bill, or a utility bill that shows your name and address. Check under the button Take Action to get the number of your state registrar to find out what you need as id.

Make sure you check to see if you can wear a shirt or button of a candidate. This varies by state and district in some cases. We think it is best to not wear anything indicating support of a candidate so that you do not have to ask questions.

In some states there is straight ticket voting electronic voting machines. You can vote for all candidates of the same party with one button. If you choose that as an option, DO NOT PUSH ANY INDIVIDUAL BUTTON FOR ANY CANDIDATE. This will undo your vote. Review your ballot before you push the cast vote button. Be sure that your candidate of choice is selected with the same party button. If you are more comfortable select each candidate individually. Be careful and comfortable about casting your vote. You can ask for help if necessary. If you have trouble seeing you can ask that someone accompanies you into the voting area. No one can force you to vote for someone.

If there is a problem ask for a judge to explain the problem. If this does not work call 1-866-our-vote or 1-877-US-4-OBAMA (1-877-874-6226) Do not let anyone deny your right to vote. You can also report it at CNN http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/voter.hotline/ 877-GOCNN -08 (877-462-6608)

This has been a long pre-election period. Now is the time to make your vote count and to be counted. One person’s vote affects the whole country. It is a most precious right that we must not ignore. We need large numbers of voters to turn out and let the will of the people be heard. Ask some one if they need a ride to the polls. Encourage someone to vote. Bring your children so they learn and begin a process for their future.

Thank you for visiting our site and let us hope that we will have an honest election with little election fraud and that we all walk together in a positive direction.

About "Liberal Feminism" and Shame on McCain!
Written by Neon

WHAT ARE YOU STORIES OF BEING A “LIBERAL FEMINIST?”

I recently heard John McCain and individuals in the Republican Party say “that Sarah Palin will show “liberal feminists” that one can be a mother and a working woman and be a conservative.” Well in the words of Sam Seder “SURPRISE, SURPRISE” Where do you think the liberal, moderate, AND conservative woman got her rights from? She got her rights from “liberal women” who stuck their necks out, protested female elimination from the voting process, from the job market with equal treatment and equal pay. Progressive and “liberal thinking women” paved the way for every generation of women to follow regardless of political affiliation and economic philosophy. When John Adams went to the Constitutional Convention, it is said that Abigail Adams told him to “remember the women” It is for that reason that the Constitution does not specify the gender of who can be president but rather the qualifications are a natural citizen of at least 35 years. It was left open so that one day Alice Walker, Barbara Jordan, Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, Bella Abzug, Carol Moseley Braun, Elizabeth Dole, Sarah Palin and many others could be in a primary or even run for President or Vice President. Read the list here of how many women showed put their hat into the political arena for President in one way or another, either in a primary or as the nominee for their party. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_female_United_States_presidential_and_vice-presidential_candidates

Shame on McCain, who ten times voted against equal pay for equal work for women, and the others who ignore the brave efforts and life risking efforts, of probably liberal, women who have helped to bring conservatives like Palin to the place she is in today. Shame on his disrespect for all the honorable women who braved the hostile social environment of their time to make sure that the intellect and creativity of women not be ignored but rather used as a force to create a better society. It is your ilk Mr. McCain who would have blocked these women from their successfulness on behalf of women. Mr. McCain, your wife who started charity organizations and your V.P. selection who is a governor, would not be where they are today if not for all the wonderful, dedicated, and brave women such as Susan B. Anthony. Caddy Stanton, Alice Walker, Betty Fredian, Gloria Steinem and the list goes on, who fought to take women from being barefoot and pregnant( as you might want it to be), out into the world to make it a better place.

About Socialism and the Nay Sayers
Written by Neon

PLEASE COMMENT WITH YOUR OPINION OF CORPORATE WELFARE

Dictionary.com has a few definitions of Socialism but I think this one best fits today’s political climate.

. Socialism

An economic system in which the production and distribution of goods are controlled substantially by the government rather than by private enterprise, and in which cooperation rather than competition guides economic activity. There are many varieties of socialism. Some socialists tolerate capitalism, as long as the government maintains the dominant influence over the economy; others insist on an abolition of private enterprise. All communists are socialists, but not all socialists are communists.

When government does a bailout for corporations, and the people receive little as a result, that is not a bailout that is corporate welfare. When governments own majority interest in these corporations this borders fascism. We have seen the government increasingly taking over our corporations. When the middle class is ignored or eliminated we are left with the wealthy or the government as a ruling class and the lower class becomes the worker for them with little say in self-governance. The government will dictate what will happen in most of our lives.

When living in a collective society we agree to work together, usually through central governments which are federal, state, and local. Each level has its jurisdiction. It could be done that each of us gets our own garbage pick-up, sanitation workers, fire departments, police departments etc. In fact this would neither be cost efficient nor service efficient. So we agree to allow our governments to do some socialist behavior in taking care of these and many other things for financial and practical reasons. This is a form of socialism in a democracy. It is for the common good that these things are done collectively. Government ownership of corporations like banks, insurance companies, mortgage companies, investment companies, ARE NOT a necessity of a collective society and therefore are more like a fascist government. Understand that currently this is what exists in our wonderful country. The constitution is being ignored and corporations are owned by the government. Stand up and vote against this type of government. Support and vote for those who want to give the people the free enterprise our fore bearers wanted for us. Support candidates who support a strong middleclass and who want to foster new businesses and green businesses. Support those who want to keep manufacturing in our country.
