As Election 2008 comes to a
close, the anxiety level is high and the hope that there will be a fair and
honest election concerns all of us who have questioned previous elections.
Here are some problems already occurring with early election as well
as things to do if you have a problem at the polls.
In Virginia flyers looking
official were passed out to say that Democrats and Republicans vote
on different days. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! Everyone votes on Nov.
4th 2008 unless doing early voting.
Some have been told, in these
difficult times, that if their houses are foreclosed on they can not
vote. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! CHECK WITH YOUR STATE. BELOW
ARE SOME STATES WHERE YOU CAN VOTE IF YOU ARE FORECLOSED ON.
Call radio and tv stations
to report problems to get the word out.
Make sure you have a proper
id like a driver’s license, pictured student id, official gov’t
photo like a passport or non-drivers photo id. An electric bill,
or a utility bill that shows your name and address. Check under
the button Take Action to get the number of your state registrar to
find out what you need as id.
Make sure you check to see
if you can wear a shirt or button of a candidate. This varies
by state and district in some cases. We think it is best to not
wear anything indicating support of a candidate so that you do not have
to ask questions.
In some states there is straight
ticket voting electronic voting machines. You can vote for all
candidates of the same party with one button. If you choose that
as an option, DO NOT PUSH ANY INDIVIDUAL BUTTON FOR ANY CANDIDATE.
This will undo your vote. Review your ballot before you push the
cast vote button. Be sure that your candidate of choice is selected
with the same party button. If you are more comfortable select
each candidate individually. Be careful and comfortable about
casting your vote. You can ask for help if necessary. If
you have trouble seeing you can ask that someone accompanies you into
the voting area. No one can force you to vote for someone.
If there is a problem ask for
a judge to explain the problem. If this does not work call 1-866-our-vote
or 1-877-US-4-OBAMA
(1-877-874-6226) Do not let anyone deny your right to vote.
You can also report it at CNN http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/voter.hotline/ 877-GOCNN -08
(877-462-6608)
This has been a long pre-election
period. Now is the time to make your vote count and to be counted.
One person’s vote affects the whole country. It is a most precious
right that we must not ignore. We need large numbers of
voters to turn out and let the will of the people be heard. Ask
some one if they need a ride to the polls. Encourage someone to
vote. Bring your children so they learn and begin a process for
their future.
Thank you for visiting our
site and let us hope that we will have an honest election with little
election fraud and that we all walk together in a positive direction.
